  • Visitor Information Center – Get the lowdown on the low country! All the information you could want on Savannah, GA and the surrounding areas is here in one convenient stop!
  • Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist – Stand in wonder at the foot of the steps and admire the magnificent beauty found within the walls below the towering spires. This landmark has been completely renovated over the years and still holds the splendor of its origins. The Cathedral sits adjacent to St. Vincent’s Academy – an all-girls Catholic school that was founded in 1895. If you are lucky, you can catch a choir rehearsal or an organist playing the instrument during the afternoon.
  • Roundhouse Railroad Museum – Learn about the story of the railroad industry in Georgia at the museum, which was originally the site of the Central Georgia Railway Headquarters. Train enthusiasts and history buffs alike will marvel at the splendor of the vast exhibits. Grab some coffee at the Whistle Stop Café on your way to rest your feet in a refurbished dining rail car.
  • Mickve Israel – Tour the historic sanctuary and museum of the only Gothic style synagogue in America, which is home to the third oldest Jewish congregation in the U.S. Its beauty and history will inspire you!
  • Forsyth Park - Home to the famous Forsyth Fountain, Forsyth Park was the first large park created in Savannah, Georgia. Completely renovated in 1988, the park and fountain have become a symbol of the historical nuances and distinct southern character that is Savannah today. Lounge in the grass and watch the ultimate Frisbee teams & the kids laughing on the playground.
  • Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House – Recently visited by President Obama, this charming restaurant sits on one of Savannah’s most beautiful cobblestone streets. But get there early! Lines begin to form at 11 am and Mrs. Wilkes seats for lunch only twice per day family style. Pass the collard greens and fried chicken to your neighbor as you enjoy a unique southern dining experience. After lunch, take a stroll south toward Forsyth to shop in the Savannah Design District.

Experience the old and new by choosing to turn left and heading to:

  • City Market - Experience the culture of this thriving social and commercial center of Savannah through its many eclectic shops, art galleries, restaurants, and nightspots, as well as the City Market Art Center. Stop while you are shopping to pet the carriage horses that take their breaks in the middle of the market daily.
  • River Street – For a blend of new and old, spend time exploring the converted cotton warehouses on Savannah’s River Street, which now house more than 70 restaurants, art galleries and boutiques. Remember, in Savannah, Georgia it is perfectly acceptable to stroll with an afternoon cocktail. Duck into Tubby’s Tank House & grab a Bloody Mary!
  • The Lady & Sons - Food Network chef Paula Deen brings uncomplicated and delicious home cooking to Savannah at the world-renowned The Lady & Sons restaurant. The restaurant sits on a bustling corner on the market – a great place to people watch while you are waiting for your one-of-a-kind Southern meal.
  • Ships of the Sea Museum – Take of tour through the Scarborough House and enjoy this Museum’s exhibit of ship models, paintings and maritime antiques, then stroll through Historic Savannah’s largest garden.
  • Broughton Street Shopping – For a true Savannah shopping experience, visit Broughton Street where you’ll find an abundance of shops featuring everything from antiques and collectibles to clothing and furniture. For a true Savannah tradition, stop by Leopold’s ice cream and check out one of their unique flavors including Girl Scout Cookie Thin Mint!

Straight ahead find yourself in the midst of Historic Savannah where you can visit:

  • Juliette Gordon Low House – Visit the birthplace of Juliette Gordon Low, founder of the Girl Scouts in 1912, and discover the breathtaking beauty of this national historic landmark.
  • Telfair Museum/Jepson Center - Located in Savannah’s vibrant historic district this distinguished cultural institution boasts three architecturally significant buildings which house a permanent collection of approximately 4,000 works of art dating back to the 18th century. Make sure to take your little ones to the Jepson! They have a floor dedicated to keeping their energy at bay while you take in the extraordinary exhibits.

  • Mercer-Williams House Museum – The beauty and prestige of The Mercer house, designed by John S. Norris for General Hugh Weedon Mercer, was restored to its original glory by the late Jim Williams, best known for his role as the central character in John Berendt’s non-fiction bestseller Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.
  • Savannah Theatre – Catch a show in a venue where the doors first opened in December of 1818. Today, the venue’s décor is a unique 1940’s art deco style. Enjoy a Broadway show or a Gospel Jubilee!

A short drive away, you will find:

  • Bonaventure Cemetery - This charming site has been a world-famous tourist destination for more than 150 years due to the old tree-lined roadways, the many notable persons interred, the unique cemetery sculpture, and the folklore associated with the site.
  • Savannah International Trade Center – This superbly functional, architecturally stunning 330,000 sq. ft gleaming waterfront complex on the historic Savannah River plays host to Savannah’s larger conventions and events in its array of meeting spaces, auditorium and Grand Ballroom.
